About the Challenge

Hairscope Hairathon 2025 invites teams from colleges, universities and academic institutions to solve a real-world hair care challenge by measuring hair parameters using AI-ML. Participants will be provided with USB trichoscopy devices and guided training during Orientation Week, after which they will have six weeks to develop their models addressing the problem statement. The exact problem statement will be released when the hackathon begins - so come prepared to innovate.

Education & Mentorship

Orientation Week will cover device usage, best practices for data capture, annotation workflows, and model training basics.

Impact & Prizes

Your work will help create datasets and models that can directly improve hair-health diagnostics and clinical treatment decisions.

Phase 1 : Registration

Registration opens on October 13 and closes on November 16, 2025.
After registration teams will receive welcome kit ( t-shirt, usb microscope device, printed guide etc )

Nov 24 - Nov 28, 2025

Phase 2 : Orientation and AI/ML Workshop

Orientation Week will cover usb microscope device usage, fundamentals of annotation and data labeling, best practices for data capture, AI-ML workflows, and basics on how AI models are trained.

Dec 1, 2025 - Jan 15, 2026

Phase 3 : Hackathon

Problem statement released (same day for all teams)
6 weeks window to capture, annotate and train the best models to solve the problem statement.
Final submission package must include: Annotated dataset, Model code + trained weights, Report and a 5–7 min video/demo.

Hairscope Hairathon 2025 is open to undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD students, as well as other academic researchers enrolled in universities or colleges across India.

Each team must consist of 4–6 members.

Yes. The entry fee is ₹350 per member, which also includes Team Kit and goodies for each participant.

The hackathon starts on November 3, 2025, when the problem statement is released, and ends on December 15, 2025, which is the final submission deadline.

  • Report (approach, results, challenges)

Orientation Week will be held from November 24 – 28, 2025. It will include online and offline webinars on how AI models are trained, exploring the fundamentals of annotation and data labeling with our partner platform.

Not necessarily! While basic knowledge of AI/ML concepts will help, Orientation Week will cover essentials, and your teamwork and problem-solving skills will matter the most.

Yes. During Orientation Week, mentors will guide participants on device usage and technical workflows. Additional guidance will be provided only if unusual issues are noticed during the hackathon.

No. The devices are provided for the duration of the hackathon and must be returned after the event.

Results will be announced on January 12, 2026, via email and Hairscope’s website and social media channels.
